We set out to find the ideal tire for urban use and found a match made in heaven with Continental. Taking the casing of the Grand Prix as a starting point, together we developed what is possibly the best tire ever made for urban environments. For extra comfort, we decided to increase the tire volume and adjusted the dimensions to a wider 35-622.

Highly valued by racing cyclists, we built the tire using the Black Chilli high-end rubber compound to provide the right grip in both wet and dry conditions. With PolyXBreaker and an additional rubber layer, this folding tire benefits from all-round puncture protection and black reflective tape ensures extra safety at night. All of these benefits at a weight of only 350g.

Tread
The GP Urban boasts a striking tread we designed ourselves. The tire comes as standard on the following models: Arthur, Friedrich, Frieda, Ludwig XIV and Wilhelm.

Technical Specifications

BlackChili Compound
For BlackChili we refine newly developed synthetic rubbers with natural rubber with the proven high-performance tread compound. We use these rubbers with special nanometric carbon soot particles, which are optimized in shape and surface properties for best uses for the intended tyre. BlackChili Compound reaches an unprecedented of performance. Tyres with BlackChili Compound reach an unprecedented level of performance. Compared to the previous best Activated Silica Compound, BlackChili tyres have 26 % less rolling resistance, a 30 % higher friction value (grip) and a 5 % increase in mileage. The complex compound technology is so sensitive that tyres with BlackChili Compound can only be produced exclusively in our German Korbach factory.

PolyX Breaker
With our PolyX Breaker®, we bring our car expertise to the bicycle tyre segment: Polyester has been used successfully for years in car tyres and been tried and tested many times. The extremely resistant polyester fibre is woven tightly crosswise. In this way, a very high fabric density is reached which not only makes the Breaker more resistant to foreign objects but is also especially resistant to punctures. The rolling resistance is also not negatively affected by the PolyX Breaker®.

Reflex stripe
The black reflective stripe is a new development and is used for the first time in this tyre. During the day, the reflex stripe hides and is barely visible. As soon as light falls the reflective stripe, it replaces the classic cat eyes.
